color me badd.

usually i avoid to make political comments here on my blog, mainly because other people can do that much better. but here in austria we're gonna vote for a new parliament on october 1st and therefore the political parties have already started campaigning ...

our conservative chancellor schüssel (övp, austrian peoples party) is shown washing his face in what appears to be a watering place for cows because we austrians are supposed to feel well in our country. (don't expect any explanations on the context, maybe he's just following the old tradition of "i wash my hands of!".) to prove the austrian well-being factor the leader of the socialists (spö, social democrats), alfred gusenbauer (traditionally dressed in red), took a walk through the mountains, not only to meet people but mainly chamoises and groundhogs who will sure vote for him. the greens are not heard of, no one knows where they are and what they do, only their front woman eva glawischnig appeared on telly to ensure their fellow members that everything will be alright soon.

but the true color fun confusion for the masses comes from the two right-wing parties which were once one: they fight over the name (which one has the right to call themselves "die freiheitlichen"), the true color (blue or blue-orange) and of course the place on the ballots. haider's new party, the bzö (which started in orange and converted to blue again today), claims to be the true successor of the original fpö. the fpö (blue forever, but much smaller after the seperation) and their far right leader h. c. strache of course mean the same, strache also told the press today that he thinks about calling in supervisors from the osce to monitor the election. and so on, and so on ...

it's truly like some sitcom about bad politics ... but for sure it's no joke.
